Ivan and Brittany, Wedding in Vermilion, OH

September 22, 2010

Hey everyone this is Jackie, making my first blog post for the studio. Hopefully I can give you a gist of Ivan and Brittany’s wedding, since teaching writing is what I do with the other half of my life when I’m not behind the camera!

This past weekend we traveled to my hometown of Vermilion, Ohio to photograph the wedding celebration of Brittany and Ivan Wesley. Brittany and Ivan originally wanted to get married in Hocking Hills in southern Ohio, but a series of complications in that plan led them to the lake front town of Vermilion instead, a decision I was thrilled by!

The couple’s theatrical flare and a distinctive personalities created a day filled with fun and originality. They allowed Doug and me to drag them all around my childhood home as we shot in Shoffel’s Garden, on an old bridge on Vermilion Road, and at the lake front cabins they had rented for the weekend of celebration. The ceremony was held in Mill Hollow with a beautiful backdrop of the Vermilion River in early fall. Ivan and Brittany clearly put a lot of time and effort into the planning of their reception, held at the newly renovated and beautiful Vermilion on the Lake Clubhouse. Their close attention to detail gave an original and individual flare to their autumnal theme which included everything from their proposal story worked into the center pieces to their ancestral roots in the custom made backdrop for the photo booth! They danced the night away to classic oldies, choreographed the most unique bouquet and garter toss I’ve ever see, and engaged their guests in heartfelt karaoke by the end of the night.

As usual, Doug took the cake in the “most amazing image of the day” competition with his photo of them kissing in sun soaked forest, but Ivan and Brittany’s fun-loving, outgoing personalities made them easy and exciting to photograph. It was wonderful to get to share my hometown with this entertaining, energetic couple, and I even got to borrow my sister’s car to chauffeur the bride (just don’t tell Kate!).

Enjoy,

Jackie (and Doug)

This is a great shot, so classic….

Awesome cuff links!

Fooling around with the guys before we headed out to take pictures with everyone.   I have a whole set of Ivan playing tennis too, these shots are kind of unusual for a wedding but they are so Ivan!

Sportraits before the wedding?!  I think so..

Pretty much perfect.

I still don’t know if Jackie just happened to come across this bridge while driving or if she actually planned to take us by on the way to the ceremony…either way it was pretty sweet!
