Kate + Steve ——> Married! A new look at old friends
April 5, 2011
Recently we were lucky enough to shoot Kate and Steve’s wedding at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Wickliffe, OH. This was particularly special because the bride and groom are old friends of ours. Kate, the bride, was my coxswain when I rowed for The Ohio State University back in my undergraduate days and now coaches for Cleveland Scholastic, a team that our rowing team competes against. Doug and I have always felt particularly lucky that we get to work as wedding photographers; it’s like picking the thing you want to do most with your time and then making it a career. For anyone who is married or has ever been in a wedding, you know not many people get to spend as much time with the bride and groom on their wedding day as the wedding photographers. We get a full access pass to spend one of the happiest days of people’s lives with them; what an amazing job! When Doug and I talk about weddings outside “work” we both agree that we are lucky and spoiled by this position. It was especially exciting to get to be on the inside and to share this special day with our friends. Since Kate and I have a history together, her as a coxswain and me as a rower, I am used to trusting Kate’s decision making skills implicitly, so it was great to see she hasn’t lost her edge. Kate and Steve, also one of her former rowers at the University of Cincinnati, had amazing locations set up for us to shoot in, including the Rockefeller Park Greenhouses in Cleveland, Ohio. We also spend some quality time with the other loves of Kate and Steve’s lives: their cat, Stella and two beagles Hudson and Riley! We had a ton of fun shooting and hanging out with their bridal party, a great group of fun and entertaining people! Thanks so much for letting us share your wedding day and congratulations!
Happy viewing~ Jackie
The rings were passed around so people could “bless” them.
