Since Kendall and Mike were living in Australia prior to the wedding we didn’t get a chance to meet them until their wedding weekend. Mike and Kendall definitely embody all the best things about people from “the land down under.” They’re both so fun and energetic, with a totally laid back, no worries vibe that instantly makes everyone around them comfortable and happy. It’s not at all surprising their guests literally had people fly in from every corner of the globe to celebrate with them.
We started the weekend’s festivities with a rehearsal at the Manor Vail Lodge followed by a relaxed pizza party back at their penthouse in the Ritz Carlton. The rehearsal set the mood for the whole event, seamlessly blending fancy and fun in a dichotomy that represents Kendall and Mike’s personalities perfectly. As the night progressed Mike’s brother asked how long we planned on staying to photograph them, when we teased we’d stay until they bored us they quickly took up the challenge with an impromptu arm wrestling competition. Of all the things we’ve seen at weddings, this was perhaps the first time we’ve seen a groom smack-talk himself while also winning (allegedly because his brother let him)!
Everyone gathered the next morning to get ready in the penthouse at The Ritz Carlton. The only hang up that comes with everyone being together is when the groom has to get down the stairs to shower without seeing his bride-to-be… luckily hazing was kept to a minimum as Mike stumbled around blindly!
Once everyone was dressed and ready Kendall headed up the Eagle Bahn Gondola for an emotional first look with Mike. The moments they shared at the top of the mountains were incredibly touching. They also looked absolutely amazing together…almost like they had been practicing for this moment!
Kendall was escorted to the ceremony by her father and her brother acted as their officiant. Mike and Kendall’s joy was absolutely contagious as they exchanged heartfelt vows in the Manor’s garden.
After the ceremony guests were escorted into the Fitz at the Manor Vail Lodge where cheery florals, warm mountain accents, and the bright, modern vibe perfectly highlighted the couple’s vision for their celebration. Guests were entertained by touching, and sometimes teasing, speeches from Kendall’s father and maid of honor, as well as Mike’s brother. Then they moved the party to the dance floor where everyone proved once more they were there for a good time.
Kendall and Mike’s wedding is one of the events we’ve been most looking forward to this summer, not only because they’re an awesome couple, but also because we got to work alongside one of our favorite wedding vendor teams! Most people find wedding planning a bit stressful, but we’re pretty sure Mike and Kendall don’t have that word in their vocabulary since they decided on top of pulling together an absolutely incredible event, they’d also move back to the states, start new jobs, get a (very large) puppy, and the week before flying out to Colorado for the wedding close on their first house! We are so excited to see where life takes these two next, whatever it is, we’re sure it will be just as sensational and joyful as their wedding weekend has been!
