Kenzie and Bryce

Laramie, Wyoming Wedding

July 26, 2020

We met Bryce five years ago at his brother’s wedding, and Kenzie three years ago when she and Bryce were the videographers for a wedding we were shooting. It’s always so much fun to get to shoot multiple weddings for a family because we start to feel like part of the group- we tease the uncles, marvel at how much the little ones grow, and gossip with the moms. We get to let our personalities off the leash a bit more because everybody already knows us, and that makes the pictures even more authentic. This was so true with Kenzie and Bryce’s group of family and friends, both the ones that we knew and those we were meeting for the first time. We instantly felt like part of the group, and that is in no small part due to the caliber of people Bryce and Kenzie surround themselves with.

Covid-19 has been a major factor in everything about 2020, but there might not be an industry more affected than the wedding industry. With things like mandatory masks and social distancing, we find ourselves having to navigate an entirely foreign landscape as things we’ve always taken for granted at weddings- from dance floors to hugs with grandma- change dramatically. Throughout the uncertainty of planning a wedding that went from 200 guests, to ten, to 50, Kenzie and Bryce have handled every hurdle and changed expectation with flexibility and utter grace. Their’s is the first full wedding day we’ve experienced since the pandemic began, and they’ve set the bar pretty darn high for everyone coming after them!

Bryce and Kenzie chose to get married in Laramie, Wyoming where they both attended school. While they were looking for sites around town they stumbled on a train car called Lawrence “Larry” the name of Kenzie’s late father. It was a deal maker, and they decided to host the event at the Laramie Railroad Depot Museum. They exchanged vows under a canopy of pines in front of a few of their closest friends and family. While a smaller wedding wasn’t their original vision, the event was perfect and the size of the group made it possible for them to truly enjoy each individual’s presence. Most importantly, they got to include their favorite guests- their pups Cooper and Harper!

For their portraits, we got to explore some of downtown Laramie and we were blown away by the public art they have around town! We had a perfectly warm, cloudy day and because Kenzie and Bryce have also spent some time documenting weddings, we got to spend extra time making awesome portraits for them. After strolling around town we headed back to the depot for speeches, cake cutting and some dances to cap off a perfect wedding day! We were thrilled to get to spend the day documenting Bryce and Kenzie’s wedding and could not have picked a better couple to jump back into the wedding scene with!
